For teachers

Take the register in the corridor. Enter marks at your desk.

ProEMS gives a teacher two places to work. The staff app on your phone handles the register, the daily progress report, class news, photos and students' questions. The web login handles marks, homework, quizzes and study material. Both start from the classes and subjects you've been given.

In short

What does a teacher do in ProEMS?

A teacher marks attendance, logs a daily progress report, enters exam marks, sets homework, quizzes and study material, writes progress notes, posts class news and photos, and answers students' questions, all for the classes and subjects the office has assigned.

The register, the daily report, news, photos, study material, progress notes and question replies can be done from the staff app. Exam marks, homework and quizzes are done on the web, because the app has no mark entry. The staff app comes with every plan.

What you see follows your Class Teacher and Subject Teacher roles. Other classes stay out of your menus unless the office ticks Show all classes on your profile, which is usually kept for coordinators and the principal.

A working day

What does a teacher's day look like with ProEMS?

A teacher's day on ProEMS is the phone in the corridor and the classroom, and the computer for marks and homework in a free period.

  1. 08:40

    The register, on the phone

Open the staff app, pick 7-B, mark the two absentees and save. Within the hour, parents with the app on Android get a notification that their child is present, absent or on leave.

  2. 10:50

    A question from last night

Kabir asked how to balance a chemical equation. Answer it from the staff app between periods, and he sees the reply in his login.

  3. 12:15

    Science fair photos

Upload the morning's photos to an album from your phone, so families see them in the app the same day.

  4. 13:40

Half-yearly marks, in a free period

On Gold, open Exams Scores on the web, pick Science - External for 8-A and type the marks in; each one saves as you move to the next. Lock them once they're final so nothing changes by accident.

  5. 14:30

    Tomorrow's homework

On Gold, set the homework with a worksheet attached. If your school uses assignment mode, students upload their answers and you review each one with marks and remarks.

  6. 15:20

    What was taught today

Save the daily progress report from the staff app: the topic covered in each class. The principal reads it in DPR Reporting.

  7. 18:00

    Missed periods, flagged

If your school takes attendance period by period, parents get an app notification for each period their child was marked absent today, with the subject and time.

What you'll use

What does a teacher use ProEMS for?

The register and the daily notes come with Silver. Cards marked Gold need that plan, because marks, homework, study material and quizzes are Gold modules.

  • Attendance in the app or on the web

Pick the class, and the subject and period if you take it period-wise, then mark present, absent or leave.

  • Daily progress report

What you taught in each class, saved from the staff app or Track Daily Progress. You see only your own; the principal sees all of them.

  • Progress notes

Notes on a student's progress, added from the web or straight from the staff app.

  • Class news and photo albums

Post class news and upload album photos from your phone. Families with the app are notified of class news on Android.

  • Students' questions

Questions students ask about the subject, answered from the web or the staff app.

  • From Gold

    Exam marks

Marks for each exam subject in Exams Scores, saved as you type, with a reason for anyone who missed the paper, then locked when final.

  • From Gold

    Homework with attachments

Set homework with a file attached. In assignment mode, collect the answers students upload and review them with marks and remarks.

  • From Gold

    Study material

Notes and files for your classes, uploaded from the web or directly from the staff app.

  • From Gold

    Quizzes

Timed quizzes with single-answer and multiple-answer questions, which students take from their web login.

Can teachers enter marks from the staff app?

No. Marks are entered on the web, in Exams Scores, where the whole class list fits on screen with marks, maximum, percentage and a column for anyone who missed the paper. The staff app is for the work that happens away from a desk: the register, the daily progress report, class news, photos, study material, progress notes and students' questions.

Once marks are in, results, rank lists and report card PDFs come from the same records on the Gold plan. See exams and report cards for how grading schemes and locking work.

How do teachers take attendance in ProEMS?

On the staff app or the web: choose the class, and the subject and timetable period if your school takes attendance period-wise, then mark each student present, absent or on leave. Parents with the app get a notification within the hour, on Android.

You don't have to compile anything at the end of the week. Every Monday at 1 am, if email is set up, class teachers are emailed last week's Excel sheet for their class and subject teachers one for each subject they teach, with each student's percentage. To check a figure by hand, our attendance percentage calculator does the sum.

Will ProEMS add to a teacher's workload?

Mostly it moves work rather than adding it. The register you'd fill in anyway is taken on the phone, the weekly attendance sheet is compiled for you, and report cards come from marks you enter once instead of copying them into each card.

What it does add is typing marks into a screen rather than a mark book, and the daily progress report if your school uses one. Help Videos inside ProEMS walk through the main screens, so the first week isn't spent asking the office how things work.

FAQ

Questions we hear first.

Something else on your mind? Bring it to the demo and we'll answer it there.

Is the staff app free for teachers?
Yes. The staff app is included with every plan at no extra cost. Teachers sign in with their email and password and the school's organisation code.
Can a teacher see classes they don't teach?
Not by default. Teachers see the classes and subjects assigned to them as class teacher or subject teacher. The office can tick Show all classes on a staff profile for someone, such as a coordinator, who needs every class.
Do parents find out when a child is marked absent?
Yes, through app notifications on Android. Parents are told within the hour whether their child was marked present, absent or on leave, and schools that take attendance by period also send an evening notification for each missed period.
Can teachers apply for leave in ProEMS?
Yes, on the Platinum plan. Apply for Leave sends the application for approval, and on the 1st of every month each staff member is emailed their leave status.
Can I upload study material from my phone?
Yes. The staff app uploads study material for your classes, and students open it in their app or web login. Study material is part of the Gold plan.
